Chemical peel resurfacing treatment with clinical precision

Chemical peels use clinically selected acid solutions to accelerate cellular turnover and resurface the skin at controlled depths. The clinic offers a range of peel strengths — from superficial brightening protocols to deeper resurfacing treatments — with peel selection determined entirely by your skin assessment and treatment goals.

Why Royal Cosmetic Clinic

Three reasons clients choose Chemical Peels.

Chemical Peels is delivered with the same measured clinical standard applied across all Royal Cosmetic Clinic treatments — precise, planned, and focused on natural-looking outcomes.

Tone

Improved skin evenness

Acid-led resurfacing accelerates the shedding of pigmented and damaged surface cells to reveal a more even, clearer skin tone beneath.

Clarity

Reduced congestion

BHA-based peels penetrate oil-rich pores to dissolve sebaceous plugs and reduce surface congestion at the source.

Renewal

Accelerated cell turnover

Controlled chemical exfoliation stimulates fresh cell production, supporting a brighter, more youthful-looking skin surface.

Suitability

Is this treatment right for you?

A private consultation will confirm suitability. Chemical peels are commonly considered for:

Uneven skin tone and surface pigmentation

Congested or acne-prone skin

Sun damage and dullness

Fine surface lines and early signs of ageing

Those wanting accelerated cell turnover

Skin that has reached a plateau with standard cleansing routines

Final suitability is confirmed during your private consultation. Your clinician will review your medical history, skin type, and treatment goals before any plan is agreed.

How it works

What happens during your Chemical Peels session.

Skin assessment and peel selection

Your clinician assesses Fitzpatrick skin type, current skincare, and treatment goals to select the appropriate peel formulation and strength.

Skin preparation and priming

The skin is degreased and prepped to allow uniform peel penetration. Pre-treatment priming may be recommended for medium-depth peels.

Peel application

The selected acid solution is applied carefully in layers. Your clinician monitors your skin response continuously throughout the application.

Neutralisation and removal

At the appropriate time, the peel is neutralised and removed. For self-neutralising formulas, timing and technique are carefully controlled.

Recovery and aftercare

A calming serum and barrier cream are applied. Detailed post-peel care instructions — including SPF requirements — are provided in writing.

Recovery and results

Post-peel timeline

Recovery varies depending on peel strength. Your clinician will discuss expectations fully before treatment.

Superficial peels: mild redness that settles within a few hours

Medium peels: redness and light peeling from days 3–7 is expected

Skin will feel tight and dry in the first few days post-treatment

SPF 50 is non-negotiable for a minimum of 14 days after any peel

Results improve progressively — best outcomes seen after a planned course

Result language

Honest expectations, calm clinical imagery.

Clinical imagery is presented with honesty — consented, realistic, and without overpromising. Individual results vary and are discussed fully at consultation.

Private case review

Case studies are reviewed in consultation.

Treatment examples are shared only when they are clinically relevant, consented, and useful for setting realistic expectations.

Chemical Peels FAQs

Clear answers before you book.

These answers are intentionally general. Your consultation gives the clinic the detail needed to make the final recommendation for your skin.

Peel selection is determined entirely during your consultation based on your skin type, concern, Fitzpatrick classification, and previous skin history. Your clinician will not select or apply a peel without this assessment.

Visible peeling depends on peel strength. Superficial peels typically cause no visible shedding. Medium peels may result in light flaking or peeling from days 3 to 7. Your clinician will explain precisely what to expect based on the protocol selected for you.

Certain acid formulas are appropriate for medium to darker skin tones, but careful selection is essential to avoid post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Your clinician will assess your skin's suitability and use only formulations appropriate for your Fitzpatrick type.

Superficial peels produce an immediate brightening effect within 24 to 48 hours. Progressive improvement in tone and texture continues over 2 to 3 weeks as the cell turnover cycle completes. Medium peels show more significant results once the post-peel recovery period has passed.

Active skincare including retinoids should typically be paused for 5 to 7 days before a chemical peel. Your clinician will provide specific pre-treatment instructions based on your current skincare routine during the consultation.
